The Focus (Documentation)

My word is “sharp.” I looked up the definition, then I started to walk up and down the line to find inspiration. Then the idea of sharp curves,  and turning in a sharp direction came to me. My ideas have changed along the way as I have more deeply understood and explored the word sharp. My first project was a compass, representing the sharp direction that the line follows. Then I got interested in making sharp arrow installations on the line out of found natural materials on the line. My final project is made out of pointy sticks and string tied to the stick connecting them. I displayed these in a line with sharp angles. It’s installed between Cohen Studio and an Alfred State dorm, crossing the stream. It’s kind of like I made my own line with this string, but instead of begin perfectly straight, mine has sharp corners and curves on it.

The Focus (word)

I was looking at the definition of the word sharp, and one of the synonym is pierce so I thought take the definition of the, and put it on a piece of paper and pierce it with sharp sticks, and take pictures of it on different places on the line.

The Focus (work)

I made sharp curved shapes out of different materials I found out side on the line.

The Focus (work)

I decided to walk the line , and look for sharp objects, or things.

The Focus (work)

I was walking in the woods on the line, and saw lots of squarish rocks that were flat and the edges were very square and pointy. Then I looked around and saw tons of dry sticks so I decide to make an installation. I made a huge sharp, piercing, pointy arrow. Also, the arrow is on the Alfred University side of the line, pointing up hill in the direction of the field at the top of the hill.

The Focus (work)

This is my mohawk and the Tips of the spikes are all very SHARP.There is a line on my body on which is my spinal cord that run from lower back to my head then its meets my  spikes on my head.

The Focus (work)

My word is sharp so I built a compass out of twigs, because if you were walking the line and got lost you could pull a compass out of your pocket, and if you are off corse you could take a sharp turn and get back onto the line. The pictures below are taken on the line. When I was walking I had a compass in my hand so the twig compass is in the right spot/direction on the line.
